I had to confer with my bro and resident of the North, JJ Golf Pro, on this one and I learned a few things. One: Buffalo New York has a football team. Two: They are actually pretty good and represent the best NY has to offer in football right now. Three: Despite being pretty darn good they still have some draft needs. So let’s take a look shall we?
The Bills have the following picks in this draft:
- Round 1: No. 30
- Round 2: No. 61
- Round 3: No. 93
- Round 5: No. 161 (from LV)
- Round 5: No. 174
- Round 6: No. 213
- Round 7: No. 236 (from CAR)
The main needs for the Bills would be an Edge rusher to replace the loss of Trent Murphy and Quinton Jefferson, another CB, a TE, and a RB to bolster a fairly anemic running game. And sure they could always use another o-lineman. And, it wouldn’t hurt to draft another WR to work with aging players Beasely and Sanders. Picking at the bottom of Round 1, the Bills are probably hoping that someone special falls to them. Could GA Edge Azeez Ojulari fall to them? Maybe. But probably not. More likely, they could go with WF Edge Carlos Basham, Jr or PSU Edge Jayson Oweh. If all are taken, would they go CB; VT’s Caleb Farley, FSU’s Asante Samuel, or GA’s Tyson Campbell perhaps? What if Clemson RB Travis Etienne falls to them? Would they take another RB in the 1st Round or have they learned their lesson? Bama’s Najee Harris could be sitting there as well.
In later rounds and depending on who they take in the 1st, I expect to see them take an Edge, CB, RB, WR, an OG, a DL, a TE, and a LB. Who those will be is anyone’s guess.
In sum, it must be nice to have a really good team, most of whom are coming back from last season’s 13-3 AFC Championship game squad. Takes the pressure off from having to nail the draft.
