Usually a season preview comes out BEFORE the season, but that’s not how we do it here at NYGinuts. Besides, I wanted to give the Jets faithful a break and have them actually enjoy week one of the “Mormon Messiah” era. Well, week one is in the books, and I think I can safely say that the Jets stink. Sorry Jets fans, its true. Zach Wilson is going to be running for his life all year (sacked six times in week one), the offense is going to struggle to score, and the defense made Sam Darnold look competent (ok, maybe not). However, there are some bright spots; Zach Wilson (if he doesn’t get killed) looks legit, there are some playmakers on offense, and Robert Saleh can scheme it up on defense with the best of them. Having said that, it’s going to be a long year.
Let’s make a quick win/loss rundown of the schedule:
Week 1- Panthers You saw it, I didn’t have to. Jets 14- Panthers-19… Official LOSS
Week 2- Patriots I think this Pats team is decent, LOSS.
Week 3- Broncos Teddy “two gloves” is too much, LOSS
Week 4- Titans This is not the same Titans team of the past two years, however, LOSS
Week 5- Falcons This Falcons team could be the worst squad in the league (next to the Jets of course… just a reminder to send all hate mail to @Charliebadbets). This is clash of the titans in reverse. Jets WIN… maybe
Week 6- Pats again LOSS… again
Week 7- Bengals Another matchup of two bad teams… I think the Bengals are better… LOSS
Week 8- Colts Man, the schedule in the first half is brutal… LOSS
Week 9- Bills The Bills may just be the best team in the conference… they didn’t look great week one, but this is another Jets LOSS
Week 10- Dolphins Brian Flores has his team prepared week in/week out, and although I don’t think Tua is very good, he’s good enough to beat the J-E-T-S… LOSS LOSS LOSS
Week 11- Texans The Texans looked decent week one, but this roster is an absolute mess… Another toilet bowl here, Jets WIN
Week 12- Eagles Jalen Hurts looked great week one, and the Eagles came out on fire. However, they are not a good football team. Good enough to beat Gang Green… LOSS
Week 13- Saints Jameis Winston could be making an MVP run at this point (let’s see how well this ages), Jets get hammered… LOSS
Week 14- Dolphins See week 10… Loss
Week 15- Jaguars The Jags will be an unmitigated disaster by this point. But what happens when an unstoppable force of stink meets an immovable object of ineptitude??? With the possible number one pick on the line in next years draft, Jets WIN… if you can call it that…
Week 16- Buccaneers TB12 sticks it to Jersey for old times sake… LOSS
Week 17- Bills The Bills may or may not need this game for seeding… let’s just say they have the one seed wrapped up. I’m feeling generous… Jets WIN
4-13? This feels about right. Vegas has the Jets over/under win total at six and the sharps out in the desert are usually about right. Still, I don’t see it. I’m hammering the under.
Will the Jets make me eat my words?? We shall see. In the meantime, get a Costco size bottle of tums, a case of whiskey, and your therapist on speed dial because its going to be another year of futility in North Jersey. I’ll just leave this here…
