A Sad Sad Day for the NHL

What an epic fail by the NHL for not suspending Capital goon wanna be Tom Wilson! This perennial piece of garbage was at it again. First he sucker punches Pavel Buchnevich’s head because he was lying next to the goalie. And then he slams Artemi Panarin into the ice twice, and with no helmet on, which could have killed him. Why? Because Panarin had the audacity of trying to pull the goon off of a prone player? Lastly, he stood in the penalty box, strutting all proud of his work. No remorse, No regret. And obviously someone who will do this again and again. So tell me how this player with a history of this kind of reckless violence on the ice, is allowed to play this game? And yes I know hockey is violent. I grew up watching hockey in the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s etc. But this is ridiculous. The guy is out of control. And if the NHL won’t send a message to him, sadly the players will have to. The NHL did fine Tom $5,000. Woo hoo. That’ll show him. This is the same amount that King Hank got fined for squirting water at Crosby once.

The Capital’s response by the way to the backlash from players, was to post a Tweet with Tom’s image and the word “Violence”. Great. Great message Craptials. If I was the Rangers, I bring up every damn goon I had in the farm system and throw them out on the ice on the same line tonight. (This was a favorite tactic of the New York Goonlanders probably forever, but I especially remember it being prevalent in the 1990’s.) It’s time to bring it back and send Tom Wilson a serious friggin message. Play the game tough, sure, but keep the head sucker punches and potential career or life ending crap out of it. The NHL wants this guy on the ice, let’s put him “on” the ice (and it’s going to take a village to bring down this road raging lunatic).

Ok. I have to comment on my own story. More breaking news. What the hell is going on with the Rangers? Now they fire Gorton and Davidson? With three games left in a rebuilding season? If the Rangers were in any other division, they are in or on the doorstep of the playoffs. Was this due to differences of opinion one the statements made by the team post Tom Wilson rampage assault? Or differences on the future of the team? Anyway, Davidson is hockey royalty in my book, so the reason better be good and not some dopey Dolan reactionary short-sighted move. Thank goodness I am not going to the game tonight. I would not make it through the game without getting thrown out.
